Election results for City of Sydney elections

As astute watchers of the NSW local government elections would know, Clover Moore and her team of independents won the City of Sydney Council elections. The referendum on wards was lost, meaning that three wards of three councillors each won’t be introduced for the Council elections in 2012.

I still think that my argument about wards has strength.

Clover won the Mayoral vote with a primary vote of about 56%, an impressive result. Meredith Burgmann for the ALP won 15%, Shayne Mallard for the Liberals won 14% and Chris Harris won 13%.

The Greens did better in the vote for Councillors, and the likely result on current voting trends is:
Clover team: 5 councillors
Greens: 2 councillors
ALP: 1 councillor
Lib: 1 councillor

Running in the election was an interesting experience.
