Immortal Smooth Solution of the Three Space Dimensional Navier-Stokes System

Immortal = For all time

Every mathematician and physicist will say “hmmm…”

According to Not Even Wrong, Penny Smith, a mathematician at Lehigh University, has put a paper on the pre-print server which may have solved one of the Clay Institute prizes, the one dealing with the Navier-Stokes equation, the equation of incompressible fluid flow.

It’s been a while since I dealt with the equations of fluid flow, but I recall being told that these could be incredibly difficult equations to deal with in full generality.

Hopefully the paper’s fine!

Update: unfortunately Penny has found an error in one of her papers, and has withdrawn this latest one from the archive. This page has the details.
