Mini-update and story in the local media

Have a few moments to write on my blog. Work takes a huge amount of effort and energy as do voluntary activities. Oh the luxury of weekends! I will will will finish off my J. Knot Theory paper in the next 8 odd weeks and relax as well.

Meanwhile, enjoy a scan (over the fold) of a story from the 23 February Edition of City News, an inner-Sydney newspaper, on the community campaign to stop the City of Sydney selling of the Reg Murphy centre and containing a photo of yours truly. It’s a large scan.

2011 Residents’ Association

I was very happy to be recently elected the President of 2011 Residents’ Association Inc., the local residents’ association for the Kings Cross (Potts Pt, Elizabeth Bay and Rushcutters Bay) area. I’m looking forward to an interesting year. 

I don’t see this as an opportunity to intentionally push my particular ideas as to how the local area should be (although that’s inevitable), but rather help 2011RA advocate on behalf of local residents. If any one idea underpins my approach to an issue, it’s that policy should be evidence-based wherever possible.
